While the Old Testament tithe was part of God's covenant with Israel under the Law, the New Testament does not require Christians to give a specific percentage. Instead, believers are encouraged to give voluntarily, cheerfully, and in proportion to how God has blessed them. Giving is an act of worship that expresses our gratitude to God, supports the needs of others, and advances the ministry of the gospel. "Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver" (2 Cor 9:7).
